A little bit of recycling ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week is going well.  I have wanted to start trying this for some time and finally here is my first go …

Simon Says Stamps Monday Challenge Inspired by a Song Pink by Aerosmith

Pink, it’s my new obsession, yeah; Pink, it’s not even a question;
Pink, on the lips of your lover; ‘Cause pink is the love you discover;
Pink, ‘cause you are so very; Pink, it’s the colour of passion

‘Cause today it just goes with the fashion; Pink, it was love at first sight;
Yeah pink, when I turn out the light; And pink gets me high as a kite;
And I think everything is going to be alright; No matter what we do tonight!

Vintage Stamping Challenge #41 Splatters & Drips

We had a large empty container which held dried parsley when my husband said this any use to you?!  I have trained him well lol!  So I grabbed a thin piece of white card, snippet white card, Spectrum Noir AquaTints, Tim Holtz Distress ink pad, and some lovely Rubber Dance stamps, a post it, and then the final step of white and red acrylic paint.  It was so much fun to create, so much fun and I got to create another pot for my paint brushes.

I stamped the large circle bubble with Tim Holtz Distress ink onto the A5 card and dried with my heat tool.  I stamped the large journal bubble several times on to a Post It notes and cut out to use as masks.  I used the red from the Beautiful Grunge Spectrum Noir AquaTints, adding it in layers, so some areas are pinker in colour than other parts and some are more like a deep rouge colour.  I added small flicks of gold from the Essentials set and removed the Post It Masks before leaving it to one side to dry.  Once dry I added the Post It masks again and created two runny acrylic paint washes which I flicked here and there.  I grabbed the little set of nine solid bubbles from the same set and stamped onto white card snippet and once dry I cut them out and glued them randomly onto the background piece.  Once everything was completely dry I used the red AquaTints and circled each of the bubbles.  I dried it then glued the paper onto my tube and I’ve a new storage tub for some of my paintbrushes!

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment.  I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do soon ttfn Karen x

Snippets and stencil smooching ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week is going well.
I wanted to thank you all for the lovely get well wishes and thoughts for my mum and OH.  We are hoping to talk to my brother later on today and we should get a clearer idea then what is going to happen to mum.  She will have to have an operation we just don’t know when or how bad it is right now, yes I am worried but there’s nothing we can do – it’s down to the Doctor’s and Specialists at the hospital.  I got to play a little last night which was very good for me and here is the result of my play …

A nice little A6 card

I was playing with some inky panels and die cuts last night thinking about the challenges and when I saw the die cut stars I knew I had to use them especially for this challenge Stars by Simply Red:

Anyone who ever held you; Would tell you the way I’m feeling
Anyone who ever wanted you; Would try to tell you what I feel inside
The only thing I ever wanted; Was the feeling that you ain’t faking
The only one you eve thought about; Wait a minute can’t you see that I

I wanna fall from the stars; Straight into your arms,
I, I feel youl I hope you comprehend

When I shared this card I explained how I experimented with the ink that is on a stencil after it’s been used to add colour through a stencil to the card.  Almost exactly the same as this month’s Tim Holtz Technique Re-Mix.  I have these smaller pieces of card when trimming down an A4 folded piece of card to become a 148mm square card (6” square).   I experimented a bit further because when I tried to do it a second time no ink came off but I could see that there was ink on the stencil.  I grabbed my spray bottle of water and sprayed the stencil with water and took another pressing from the ink left on the stencil.

My lovely OH said to me today how do you put up with this back pain 24/7?  And that’s my polite version of what he said, the poor thing.  Twenty four seven back pain is the one thing I wouldn’t wish on anyone, with the exception of several very bad peeps from history.  He is moving a little better today and I’m hoping it will go away and ease completely for him soon.  I’m okay-ish, worried about my mum and OH, but very worn out to be honest lol.  I probably won’t get to post again for a few days.  Please don’t worry if you don’t see me around for a bit I have several secret squirrel posts to write and other, not fun or crafty, stuff I need to do.  I am really hoping to have some time to play with my new stamps soon, I have several sets that were purchased for me and several that I won that I have not had time to play with yet – they are tormenting me, calling my name!

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment.  I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do soon ttfn Karen x

Pink sky at night ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week is going well.  I am going through that night skies phase again.  Today’s stamped piece started out as an experiment with my AquaTints and watercolour card that I was going to bin!  However I realised I could use it, or part of it, by some editing here and there.  Oh my goodness I am so happy I pushed through the ugly phase to create this card …

Although there are multiple layers only one lot of foam was used!
To say that I am happy is an understatement

Time for Tim ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week has started well.  Well I got time to play a little this past weekend and I plan to use these techniques again and again!  I loved them and here is my tag …

I love it!
It is so good to be using some of my older stash too!
I can't say this is my favourite so far as there are so many more I hope to play along with!  Thank you Tim!!!

There are only a few differences between what I used and Tim used are the colours I used and my embellishments.  I had so much fun, learnt several awesome techniques and because some of my stash is very old I finally found a way that I can use the tub of mat black Dreamweaver embossing paste, it dries to a dull finish and I don’t like it.  I thought I had ordered the glossy paste, and I must have had this some time too as I don’t remember using it more than once.  I can now use it with my old embossing powders too.  Whilst typing this post and idea popped into my head and now I’m wondering if I could use my UTEE with this paste?  I have a large-ish box full of UTEE powders so I think I now what I’ll be trying out next lol!

If you want to know how I created this please visit Tim’s post here.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment.  I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do soon ttfn Karen x

Tag experiment February #3 ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week is going well.  I got to craft some at the weekend and I had fun playing with stuff so I’ve a tag to share and here it is …

I remembered to use some of my ribbon too!
I always do love me Crazy Bird's!
All that yummy ink and layers!
I do love me birds
I may add some more to this!

Created for me and especially for these Challenges

I have been experimenting with this colour palette since the lovely Becca mentioned it on her birthday challenge last year.  I’ve always loved and often used shades of blue, pale blue all the way through to turquoise and the blueprint colours.  In fact one year our Christmas card theme was teal because I was having one of ‘my phases’ with the colour teal lol.  Purple and peacock wasn’t a colour mix I’d used previously but now I adore and love it.

Playing and creating with tags and my much loved Bird Crazy stamp set is me being greedy, lol!  I was going through my folder of created by me backgrounds and the other folder of stamped by me images; some are coloured and some not.  The bird had been stamped and embossed onto Crafter’s Companion card and I coloured with my SNAT.

The background on the tag is another Christmas present: a new Tim Holtz stencil and one that is going to be used an awful lot too: it’s so feminine and I love that it is so pretty.  I attached the stencil to a tag and I used Peacock Feather DIP to colour it.  I used a light wash of purple SNAT to add details to the border of the tag.

The LOTV postcard stamp was stamped onto a white snippet, one wash of purple SNAT and dried, then a final wash of purple SNAT to which I added a smidge of Ranger Perfect Pearls iridescent purple mica to the mix.  I have a watery wash of white acrylic in one of my paint pots and I added it to the edges of the tag and left it to dry.

The purple blob on the postcard is one of the flowers from Tim Holtz flower garden stamp set, another experiment with white gesso and my SNAT.  The stamped details are missing and it’s not something I would use on a card but I thought it has awesome texture so added it too. texture.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment.  I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do soon  ttfn Karen x

Watercolour and Gold W&W #6 ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week has started well.  I promise that the next few projects will not be me just using my new stash, lol, I apologise if I have bored you by using the same stencil on multiple posts.  I’ve another one to share today and then I will try and space them out a bit more.  So here is today’s card …

Back to A6
A final look

I am finding it so funny that I have been getting much inkier and using paint on most of my experiments yet when I want to create a card it has to be clean, as in no mucky prints or splodges unless I want them to have that.  This card had to be one layer and clean and simple and that’s still a struggle.  It’s because I am a klutz.  I struggle to keep the background clean with no paint or ink splattered.  I have to say though I am very proud of this one and the pink and white one I created recently, because they don’t have any paint drips and the sequins on today’s card are purely decorative lol!

As per my other posts where I’ve used Winnie and Walter products today’s card was created with the flower from the stencil set.  I am planning on finishing several projects and in between those drying I’ll play with the stamps that come with this huge set because those images are why I had to have these stamps: you and I need to be a little patient lol!

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment.  I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do soon ttfn Karen x

Make your own background & make it your star ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your weekend is going well.  I have another card I created for several challenges to share with you today.  The inspiration for this creation is the ‘Create Your Own Background and Make It The Star one of my all time favourite challenges lol!  I really am a wee bit obsessed with the new stencil and stamp set I was able to purchase: I am in love with them lol!  Anyways here it is …
A bigger one this time 148mm square
Nice and flat for posting

This card started as a snippet of white card.  I used a large piece of card from another project and I attached the outer stencil with Washi tape and I placed the inner flower stencil inside the big stencil so that I could paint the outline.  I used the pink (Beautifully Grunge) to paint within the stencil, then I used the gold (Essentials set) to add gold highlights to the pink.  I used the pink for the background but much, much paler lol!  I have to admit the pink colour popped more than I expected it to.  It is one of the blessings of the AquaTints – I need to remember to add less paint to my palette next time lol!  The stencil set contains multiple parts and I love that because it means I can get many different looks from it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment.  I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do this weekend  ttfn Karen x

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your weekend is going well and I must apologise for my absence, that rotten sinus/cold issue is back, grr.
Thankfully I managed to do a little crafting yesterday with the new gorgeous stash, courtesy of Veronica and Winnie & Walter, I won a voucher from one of their blog hops and I got to chose some lovely new goodies – stamp set; die; mask/stencil.  Here is what I created last night …

I spent time getting mucky with paints, inks, stamps, and everything else this weekend and I am having a lot of fun, lol!  The cherries on the top of all the fun is that I get to keep my MM tag experiments and my blog post/s remind me of how I created them and what I used to create them.  I’ve used different elements, products and techniques and I think I have listed all below, lol.  Whilst typing my post I’ve become aware that I’ve been using this stencil too often, lol, so I have temporarily removed it because it tends to be the first one I grab when I want to create a background because it’s perfect for any birthday or celebration card or tag experiments too.  I have put it somewhere different so that I start using my other stencils more.

If you ever have any questions about how I created this or what I used to create it please ask.  I am more than happy to share or create a tutorial: you just need to ask lol!  Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment.  I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do soon ttfn Karen x
