Shades of green and orange and lots of pink ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your weekend is going well.  I’ve been playing with a new stamp, another new Leonie Pujol design that I just could not resist.  I have used so many colours on this card: I think someone must have popped my colour cork out.  Anyways here it is …

I used a lot of snippets, some very old and some less old stash with a new stamp and a newish die too and it was so much fun to create.  I used my Spectrum Aqua pens to colour and then stamp the image onto a white card snippet.  I then went through my snippets box and found a piece of multi coloured card, two orange snippets and a green snippet.  I also found a piece of canvas that had been a reject from another project and I decided to die cut that with this gorgeous flower die.  The brads that I have were a little dull so once I attached the flower layers together with them I tried and experiment and added glue to the top of the brad and a bling gem was glued on top of that.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment.  I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do soon  ttfn Karen x

I grabbed one of the stamps from one of my Indigo Blu stamp sets to play with over the weekend.  I created a very quick landscape with the sun having gone done but it’s not quite evening yet on my scene, using my AquaTints.  I am definitely having a fling with Kraft card too: I’ve not stopped using it since it was the theme at Spectrum Noir Challenge.  Thankfully it works perfectly with bright colours as well as the colours of fall/autumn.  Once the scene was dry I stamped the toadstools in place and coloured them then I stamped them onto a white card snippet again because I chose to decoupage them.  I decided that I wanted to go, what my husband calls, the twee look, lol, red toadstools with bright white spots!  So I coloured the stalks with the AquaTints and then I coloured the caps with red acrylic paint and I added white gesso dots with the tip of several paintbrushes.

I had the correct coloured snippets so I die cut the Sara Davies Butterfly die, the Die’sire Ivy die, the Tattered Floral dies and the Marianne leaves from those pieces.  I wanted the purple flowers to shimmer so I used my Perfect Pearls to create a pretty shimmering paint which I applied onto the flower die cuts.  I used a snippet of patterned paper from my stash as well as a Kraft snippet for matting and layering.  I grabbed my foiled Craftwork Cards Candi pieces which I added to the ivy.

I got to add shimmer with my Perfect Pearl paint and sparkle with the foiled Candi pieces!  I am still having a love fest for and with my Distressing Tool too!  Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment.  I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do soon  ttfn Karen x

Spotty Toadstools ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week is going well.  Playing with my Lavinia stamps, I adore them, and several snippets too which is a real bonus and here is the first …

A 150mm square card which is good to post
Very autumnal!

The card above had already been stamped and coloured but I forgot to blog it at the time so I won’t enter it into challenges.  I was trying out the Spectrum Noir AquaTints Essentials white onto Kraft card.  I then stamped the toadstools with Versafine and coloured them with pens from the Spectrum Aqua Nature set.  Some die cut snippets which were also coloured with AquaTints and a border with ribbon and it was done.

The next card is the result of a play session using inks, AquaTints, Lavinia Stamps and snippets and here it is …

I created a background using blue and purple, with just a touch of pink.  Once that was dry I stamped the small and large toadstools with black Versafine.  Then I used my Spectrum Aqua pens to ink up the mini flowers, flowers and vine, and the toadstools before stamping them in position.  I scribbled the Aqua pens onto a piece of acetate and using a just damp paintbrush I coloured the toadstools.  Once the toadstools were dry I decided to use the blue and purple pens to colour the toadstools directly and that made the colours much richer and it looked better.  I left them to dry before using my Spectrum Sparkle to add shimmer to the toadstools.  I distressed the edges of the stamped panel and then decided I wanted to add it to a square Kraft card.  It was too stark on its’ own so I grabbed a purple pearl snippet which I then punched with my MS border punch.  I die cut the butterflies from lilac/blue snippets and added the ribbon then the butterflies before putting the card together: simples lol!

Whimsical woodland ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week is going well.  I am back with another card I created from the mini Paperbabe Stamps sets.  It’s funny when I was talking to my OH the over day I was saying to him that I love the fact that I like to do CAS, cute, shabby and my in between own style too and that’s what this card is all about.  First play with these very cute stamps …

A 150mm square card and I'm still into the Kraft!

You will be seeing more of these stamps because I love them.  They are going to be perfect for my brother’s lovely partner and for my beautiful sweet niece: they are going to visit next weekend and I can’t wait: our sweet young one has grown so much since we last saw her.  This card was an experiment about how they work with my Spectrum Aqua pens.  I started out creating a blue sky and pale green grass onto white card with AquaTints.  Once that was dry I started inking up the stamps with the Aqua pens, I can’t imagine crafting without them now lol!  This weekend I found and learnt a couple of new tricks with the Aqua pens because of my sweet friend Tracy and now I am desperate to play with these stamps again, lol, I will have to wait though as I’ve a trip to the hospital for a scan and my family visiting next weekend.  That means the lounge needs dusting and my craft room, which is next to it, desperately needs tidying lol!  Mind you I’ve still not found everything since the family helpfully re-organised it for me, grr, they won’t do that again!

The stencilled piece was me playing with the stencil Carol gifted me and the Aqua pens.  This time I drew through the stencil with the Aqua pens and then sprayed with water.  All the detail was lost so once dry I went back in with the pen but didn’t add water a second time.  So I used multiple snippets, Spectrum Noir AquaTints, Spectrum Aqua and a little Spectrum Sparkle.  I’ve noticed I’m using my sparkle pen a lot so I need to put it away and use my old Sakura pens instead lol!

No stamping, eek! ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your weekend was a good one and your week has started well.  I decided to play a little outside of my comfort zone to create this card by not using any stamps and here it is …

There’s no stamping and that is so out of my comfort zone!

I was recently able to acquire this Imagination Crafts stencil because of a challenge win and I was really chuffed to find it as it is one that I have wanted for a little while.  I decided to create a background before using it so I took my AquaTints out and coloured an approximately 140mm square card by applying the ATs to my wet card.  Once the card was dry I used my fingers to add little and large splatters of water to the card which I mopped up with a piece of kitchen towel.  I then heat set the background before applying the stencil with Washi tape.  I used my Spectrum Aqua pens to outline each bud, flower and the stem.  I scribbled the Aqua pens onto a piece of acetate and added a little water so that I could watercolour the rest of the details on the stencil.  I left that to dry before going back in with a sparkle pen to add some shimmer.

I matted the piece onto some patterned paper from my stash.  I used my Martha Stewart border punch to add a different edge on my card.  I used three layers of die cut flowers and attached them together using brads, so I managed to use up a little more of my old stash lol!

New stamps and inspired by a photograph ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your weekend is going well.  The time is shooting past and as I have a busy week next week I wanted to get my blog posts ready to go.  My lovely OH bought me this set of stamps when I asked if I could purchase something to look forward to and because I needed the distraction he told me to order them.  I am so happy I did as they are so beautiful and I am going to get a lot of use of these for our family.  So here is my first card …

An A6 card and not too deep for posting
I am in love with these stamps: thank you Kim for getting them to me so quickly!

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge #44 Inspiration Photograph
That’s Crafty Challenge Clean and Simple
The Ribbon Girl Challenge October Any Image Challenge

For some peculiar reason I worked back to front with this card, lol!  I stamped the fox, which is two stamps, the sentiment and I the hearts from this stamp set too in position using Distress ink pads.  I used Wild Honey and Vintage Photo for the fox and Wild Honey alone for the sentiment and the hearts.  Once that was done I used my heat tool to make sure it was dry.  I attached the stencil with Washi and gently worked around the sentiment and the hearts to add the stencilling.  Whilst the stencil was still in place I added Clear Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen to add a light coat of shimmer to the Distress ink and I added a layer on the fox too.

When I saw the challenge over at Paperbabe stamps I had to scratch my head a bit as I knew I didn’t have a stamp or stencil like the inspiration photograph.  I hunted through my stencil box and the one that matched the closest was one of the beautiful stencils the lovely Carol gifted me.  I used that with Wild Honey Distress ink with my mini blending tool and foam.  I wanted a bit of texture so my finishing touch was to wrap Bakers Twine and a heart embellishment.  Done!

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment.  I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do soon  ttfn Karen x

Sunset Daisies ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week is going well.  I am trying to use my stamped and coloured flower panels that I’ve just created so that some of them are used before I start getting stuck into winter and Christmas creations and today’s card was created from a flower panel and multiple snippets too and here it is …

The Pencil Case Challenge #30 Anything Goes

The main panel was one of my experiments, as per usual, lol!  I decided to create a dark sunset sky look, the sort we get in autumn as it starts to get darker earlier in the UK.  I used the Beautifully Grunge purple AquaTints and darkened it with a touch of black from the Essentials set.  Once dry I stamped the daisies, using masks, across the piece of card.  I then used Pebeo Matt to seal the flowers because I wanted to colour the daisies and the stems and adding colour over the top would mean that I ended up with lavender coloured daisies and very dark stems.  Once it was dry I coloured the daisies with the white (Essentials ATs), the leaves green (Grunge ATs) and yellow (Primary ATs).

As usual I had small snippets of white card from other projects which I die cut and then coloured with the purple AquaTints.  I also managed to use some patterned paper and a snippet black card which I die cut the butterfly from and then added a layer of Pebeo Dyna interference, I love this paint too much.  I played around with layout and some matting and layering and once everything was in position I glittered the hello die cut and added three sequins: simples lol!
