May Mixed Media Tag #1...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week is going well. I’m a little earlier than usual this month with my first mixed media tag, but never mind, at least I'm not late for a change and I've not missed my self imposed deadlines yet lol! Here it is …

I love the pink and peach shades with the brown and the lovely texture
A final look

Because I'm always trying to challenge myself and my ideas of shabby/distressed I realised that I need to allow some brown into my colour palette. It's still a colour that I'm not overly fond of when crafting but I have learnt a little better how to use it in a way I like, lol, which to me is really important. I have made things in the past that I don't like and I just felt stifled because of having to use the brown and allow the distress in. I've learnt that I love feminine distress and I think that's why I love so much of the art produced my lovely friends. Once again my mixed media tag is being creating from snippets with the exception of the tag substrate. I've also altered the tag template, I just need to spend time to create a new one as the template I have is too short so I may have to ask hubby to cut me a new one as I'm struggling with cutting with scissors right now.

I inked up the lily stamp using a peachy pink Spectrum Aqua pen and stamped the flower onto a cream snippet. I stamped it onto a scrap of paper first because the colour was too bright. I second and third generation stamped just adding a light spray of water to the stamp. It constantly amazes me how pigment rich the Aqua pens are. I found a pink snippet and I used a pencil to draw around the template and cut that out before applying the model paste to it - love the depth and texture I've managed to add. I inked up the stamp with a Vintage Photo distress ink pad and I used a just damp brush to drag the colour out a little and fussy cut the images out.

I die cut the frame and butterfly embellishments from my snippets and added a left over Prima butterfly that had been stamped onto a rich orange snippet. I really hope I'm not boring everyone with my mixed media tags because I'm loving creating them each month. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment. I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do soon ttfn Karen x

Hi Karen. Love your tag, it's got some great texture.
On a different note, I was about to add your link to our STAMPlorations Mixed Media Challenge linky, but I didn't have your email address. It's there and working, if you wanted to add it yourself. You might also want to change the url in your back link as it doesn't directly link to the challenge post. The correct url is . Sorry, it might sound a bit overly fussy, but I want to give you the best of chances. Good Luck! Monika xxx
