June Mixed Media Tag #1 ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your weekend was a good one and you've had a wonderful start to the week. Crumbs it felt like June came about very quickly! It's because of the shopping, the wedding and all of that, lol. Well I found some time to play and to play with my mixed media supplies again, this time I used Alcohol Inks, gesso, ink pads, texture paste, card and card snippets, as well as my lovely tools of stamps, stencils, and a palette knife too, lol, and here is the end result …

I am beyond surprised that I created this tag!
It has depth and it's dark!
Yep that's dark, especially for me!
It is a very rich red and orange plus the pops of berry and lime!
A final look

Created for me and especially for these Challenges
Emerald Creek Dares June Challenge Surf or Turf
I chose turf this time lol!
The template, the ribbon & the Dreamweaver White Pearl embossing paste

I chose to use three of the theme choices ( #28 rustic, #32 put a stencil on it, #36 put a stamp on it) to push myself but if I can only use one than I pick #32 Put a Stencil On It!

I started with my usual white card and applied a layer of white gesso with a brayer. Once dry I attached the stencil and used white pearl embossing paste to create five dimensional flowers and stems. Once dry I picked up what I thought was a blue AI and splashed it all over the sky. I was not a happy bunny lol! I had grabbed a brown AI by mistake!!!

I then thought about it for a bit and decided that rather than throwing the base away I decided to leave it and see what would and could happen. I used AI ink blending solution to lighten the brown as it was a bit too dark. I also used that to remove the colour from the embossing paste flowers. Once I had done that I used a damp piece of kitchen towel to make sure there was no more blending solution on the flowers and then I coloured them with pink, red, and green.

I then found out that my base was not large enough so a ferret into my snippets bag found this lovely piece. I traced and cut out a tag and attached both pieces to it and I used some ribbon to hide the join. Another delve into my snippets bag found the coloured snippets pieces onto which I stamped the butterflies and fussy cut them before attaching to my tag.

I have never really liked dark brown or grunge but I think I like this, which is one heck of a shock! The texture and those pops of rich colour from the green, pink and red is gorgeous. I’m going to attempt this again but in different colours and probably with a different stencil and stamps lol! I really didn’t expect to like it, lol, so that makes it an awesome experiment with more to follow as soon as I can manage lol! Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment. I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do soon ttfn Karen x
