Snippets and layers of Watercolour Paint ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week is going well. On today’s card I decided to use up a snippet of watercolour paper and to experiment by adding layer upon layer of watercolour paint and here is the end result …

I created an A5 card for a change
I used one of my chipboard winnings a planets which
I coloured with Finnabair metallic paints
The galaxy
Here's the planet close up: I'm in love with the metallic paints!
More snippets!
A final look

Created for me and especially for these Challenges
Creates and Makes Challenge #14 Anything Goes

#30 Mixed Media Anything Goes

I was inspired by the multiple layers of paint and colours and I’m trying to make sure my projects have those layers and not layers of mud which is a problem I’ve had in the past

I had so much fun creating this card. I’m planning to create a tutorial so that I can refer to it as can anyone else who might be interested. I used white EP after stamping the dot and dash stars. Then I started to add the layers of watercolour paint, drying completely between the layers so that I could achieve a richly coloured background/galaxy. It takes multiple layers of watercolour paints to achieve the perfect galaxy background and as I was experimenting with my Brusho Watercolour Crystals which have the added bonus of being cheap, well they are cheap watercolour paints but the amount of colour you get from these powders is amazing. Once I achieved the depth of colour I was after I used various colours of WOW EP to stamp and emboss the silhouette stars.

I tried adding more star details using my stencil and Luminarte H2O watercolours. That did not work well however you can see some of that detail IRL. I added more colour to the dot stars using Luminarte H2O watercolours and I added a lot of heavy splattering to give depth and the look of stars deeper in. I left that to dry whilst I transformed an ugly background. Thank goodness for acrylics! The last few steps was to add black acrylic interference to the galaxy scene and to the background. More snippets were used to die cut and matt and I was finished!  Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment. I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do soon ttfn Karen x
