Very old stamps on November MM Tag #3 ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your weekend was a good one and your week has started well. I need more tags and I get to play along with a couple of challenges too – bonus lol! Here is my third mixed media tag for November …

Full on and side view
All the inky and texture detail
I managed to capture some of the shimmering detail

Created for me and especially for these Challenges
Allsorts Challenge #442 Glitter
Scrapy Land Challenge #78 Anything Goes
I used Crafters Companion and Tim Holtz Sizzix dies

I’ve been desperately wanting to play along with Tracey’s 25 Days of Christmas tags again and finally I had some time and a snippet of card left over from another project so it was time to put stamp to card and play with my inks and various mediums too!

This piece of card is 88mm wide by 210mm tall, a snippet from creating a 21cm square background that is going to be used on another card. I have a funny story about the stamp below but please feel free to skip. I stamped the tree three times across the snippet using a pale ink pad because I wanted it to look like a painted watercolour and not a stamped tree. I used Spectrum Noir AquaTints to colour the trees and left it to dry. I then did the same for the night sky. I dried the coloured scene with my heat tool and put it to one side whilst I got on with another project. The next day I started to pipe the snow on the trees, the bottle has a piping nozzle lol! My first lot of snow ended up a little green because they drew the ink up so I added more snow on top and so far it’s not too green. A little sprinkle glitter may have helped too. I used die cut snippets to embellish a little and it was done.

A few months ago I put this stamp aside because I didn’t plan to use it again. It is one of my oldest stamps that I purchased from the USA many years ago. One day I was at a friends house and she had QVC on with a stamping show where Dee Gruenig was one of the guests and she was showing unmounted stamps. I had started stamping when I saw the show and I already knew how hard it was to get stamps in the UK. Dee talked about her range of stamps and her online shop and luckily enough I noted those  details. We didn’t have satellite or QVC back then but I found Dee’s online shop and I stamps. Over the years I have used this stamp many times but was never happy.   I’ve been sorting through my craft room for more than a year now and I know it’s time to let some designs go but I noticed this tree stamp and I thought to myself before you do sell it try stamping with it with the MISTI, last years birthday present from OH.

I squealed, I loudly squealed! I am so very, very happy I tried it in my MISTI! You will be seeing more of this stamp as I now have visions of landscapes and winter scenes and all of that lol! I worked it out this weekend and I think it must be ten years old, which is marvellous. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment. I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do soon ttfn Karen x

What an incredible tag!! The dimension and colours really caught my eye in the Gallery. I'm in love with sky background you created, its stunning. And those kraft coloured die-cut flowers are so crisp and clean against it too. I'm so glad you shared this with us at Happy Little Stampers!
