Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week has started well. I’m back with my House Of Cards post today and we have a choice for you. We want you to create a Mixed Media card or use the colours in the photograph or a mixed media card using these colours. Here is the inspiration for you …

Mixed Media and or Colours

Here is my card …

A 148mm square card
Lots of lovely texture
There's lots of shimmer and shine goodness

Love to Create Challenge #3 Mixed Media Anything Goes
Papercraft-Challenges #1 Happy Birthday
Simon Says Stamps Monday Challenge Something New: my die!

I was completely iso I decided to incoporate the theme of mixed media and the colours and the end result is one that I love because it’s fresh and light. I finally got to use a new die too – I have to admit I’ve owned this beautiful die for a couple of months but never got around to using it, don’t know why I haven’t because it’s going to become a new favourite methinks lol!

1. I cut a piece of A4 card down to A5 and added a layer of clean water. I sprinkled green, red and yellow Brusho watercolour crystals onto the card.
2. I picked the card up and allowed the paint to flow into the other colours. I wanted to keep it light and airy so I used kitchen towel to mop up colour that was starting to muddy and or to keep the colour from the edges. I left it to dry overnight.
3. I attached the stencil and added matt texture gel in one area and whilst it was still wet I sprinkled green micro beads onto the gel and I left it to dry naturally.
4. Once the beads were stuck in place I re-attached the stencil and applied the texture paste and I left that to dry naturally.
5. Hunting through my coloured by me backgrounds I found a washed out piece of red card that I coloured with Twinkling H2O watercolours, a deep pink colour.
6. Hunting through my stamped images I found the three stamped flowers but the colour wasn’t right so I added a layer of the same H2O paint and put them to one side to dry.
7. I used the rose red and yellow Brusho watercolours to colour three of the blossoms and put them to one side to dry.
8. I cut the background card to size and used my Tim Holtz distressing tool to roughen up the edges then glued it onto a 148mm square white card.
9. Using my paper trimmer I cut thin slivers of fun foam and used either double sided tape or dries clear glue to attach the foam to the back of the die cut circles. I used dries clear glue to attach the die cut to the background.
10. I then faffed with the flowers layering them and finally attaching them in place on the card.

I am very happy with the end result, it has a lovely light and colourful feel which in the middle of UK winter makes it very fresh and light. We all need a little bit of bright colour in our lifes and this is my way of gettting that. I do hope you will come on over and join in our challenge. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment. I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do soon ttfn Karen x
