Experiments with paint ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week is going well. Along with new stamps and dies for Christmas my lovely husband has also purchased me some more colours of the Pebeo Dyna acrylics that I love and I’ve spent the last couple of days playing with one of my new colours and here is the end result …

A 150mm square card
A good to post card
All the details
This is how shiny it is!

Created for me and especially for these Challenges
the paint I used to colour the banner and
whilst typing this post I realised this is the first time I have used these stamps too, hangs head in shame lol!

Deep Ocean Challenge #172 Something new
Dies R Us Challenge #88 Anything Goes
I used a Tutti Designs die
Paperbabe Stamps Challenge #64 Anything Goes
Papercraft-Challenges #2 Happy New Year

Here’s how:

1. I die cut the banner using watercolour card and coloured it with a thin-ish layer of Pebeo Dyna Silver. I know from previous use of these paints on white you need to be minimal as they are really for black card but I love the look on white and kraft and my paints have to do double duty so on white was my first experiment. It’s a really stunning colour, not too garish, waters down beautifully. I left it to dry naturally.

2. I stamped the border with Salty Ocean twice and heat dried the ink before adding the crashing waves and heat drying again. It’s really important to do that when stamping over these paints as the ink won’t dry otherwise, lol.

3. I stamped fish onto the banner with rusty hinge and heat dried that.

4. I stamped the boat on a snippet of white card, heat dried it. I added a layer of Cosmic Shimmer white watercolour paint which gives a pearl look and left it to dry. I fussy cut the boat and put to one side.

5. I die cut the sentiment from a coloured by me snippet. I figured out the layout and decided to keep this card very minimal as I felt that worked better for this stamp set.

There will be many more experiments for the rest of this month and probably next too because I was very lucky this Christmas and add in the fact that hubby has become a seasoned craft shopper, knowing some of the places to go to get the best deals lol! Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment. I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do soon ttfn Karen x

Wow! What an incredible clever idea for a card! I love the use of the paper boat and how you made it really pop against that beautiful ocean background. The color palette is striking and I love the upside-down fishtail banner shape you used.
