Dare to Resist Mixed Media Tag ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your weekend is going well. Because I’ve had major fails on my bigger mixed media projects I decided to create a couple of tags and several journal pages over the weekend and here is the first tag I created ...

Lots of lovely texture and details
You can see some of the marvellous depth
The beautiful ballerina
All the lovely details

Created for me and especially for these Challenges
Allsorts Challenge #456 B is for Ballerina, Butterfly & Buttons
A Vintage Journey Challenge Melt It
Visible Image Stamps Facebook Page Share and Tell February

The background for this tag came about because I had attached one of my stencils to card and tapped through then removed the stencil and added embossing powder to that background. Well there was a lot of embossing ink on the stencil so I decided to print with it and use it in the reverse way. I pressed the stencil onto a piece of white card and then removed it and added the Fractured Ice embossing powder and used my heat tool to melt it. I then added more Fractured Ice EP but only in one area and once that was melted I decided to see if I could make it run, don’t know why but that was the idea that popped into my head. And yes it does, it runs! This embossing powder is so unusual!!!

Once I was happy with my tags heat embossed background I used a lavender re-inker to colour it and I started to think about what else I still want to experiment with. The idea that popped into my head was stamping a silhouette image in black then using Pebeo Dyna iridescent paint to colour/paint. The ballerina stamp was the perfect fit for this experiment. I stamped her using Versafine black and heat dried the ink to make sure it was completely dry before painting her with Pebeo Dyna gold acrylic. Once I was finished with that I added Pebeo Dyna blue/green dots and left the paint to dry. I coloured around her using another re-inker.

The rest of the tag was put together because I hunted in my stash and found quite a few embellishments that worked perfectly with both the background and stamped image. I’ve managed to use quite a few of my very old embellishments creating this tag and I am very glad about that. The whole tag ended up being a complete experiment and I am happy I did this and happy with the end result. This is a tag that I will refer back to in future. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment. I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do soon ttfn Karen x
