Resisting Distress ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week is going well. I was playing with a new stamp and experimenting over the weekend so I do have a couple of projects to share this week and here is the first one …

A nice large A5'ish tag
It has lots of lovely depth and texture
All the details
The stamped flower
A final look

Created for me and especially for these Challenges
Country View Crafts Challenge Anything But Cute
Frilly & Funkie Challenge Dare to Resist
Make My Monday Challenge #65 Messy Backgrounds
Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge Make your own Background

There are so many products used to create this tag so I will try to keep the steps short. Here is roughly how:

1. Attach stencil to card with Washi tape. Use Versamark IP to tap through the template.
2. Remove the stencil and apply embossing powder, heat set. I did this step until the whole card was covered.
3. I added some Distress re-inkers to my paint palette and watered them down. I then applied them to the background and where the embossing powder had set resisted the inks.
4. I had some Pebeo Dyna inteference paint left in my paint pallette from another project and I didn’t want to waste it so I experimented with it. I painted the flowers and buds with the Pebeo paint and stamped them. I applied two layers of the paint to get the coverage I wanted.
5. Being very careful to not move the stamp in my MISTI I cleaned the flowers and buds and inked up the branches of the stamp with Walnut Stain ink pad, I cleaned most of the excess from the flowers then stamped.
6. I removed the stamped panel from the MISTI and used my heat tool to dry the ink and paint.
7. I used a Peacock Feathers re-inker wash and coloured the background, using my heat tool to dry.
8. I added splatters of water to the card, mopped up with kitchen tool and then used my heat tool to dry.
9. Using my ink blending tool and foam and Faded Jeans Distress Oxide I added colour to the edges of the tag.
10. Repeat Step 8 again.
11. Roughen edges of the stamped panel and cut the background to tag shape.
12. I ripped some mesh and glued that onto the tag and then played around with a layout I was happy with.
13. I used the ink blending tool and foam along with Faded Jeans Oxide and inked all the edges of the tag.

I created this tag because I’m comparing the different resist products and techniques. For this tag I used Versamark ink pad and clear embossing powder, I have more projects on the go where I have used Tim Holtz resist spray, white gesso, matt medium etc. Lots of different backgrounds are being created so that I have several references for future projects. I got very filthy inky fingers over the weekend, lol, which was so much fun, however my back is in a really bad place right now and that means computer time must be kept minimal and I’m beyond happy that I was able to get inky over the weekend because my back is so bad right now, grrr, always happens when I am having the most fun! Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment. I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do soon ttfn Karen x
