Snippets #2 ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your weekend is going well. I knew that this week I wanted to enter a create another circles themed project and a Christmas card. Here is the Christmas card that I planned to create …

A 148mm square card
Great for posting
Lots of lovely crackling goodness
A final look

Luckily for me I had already stamped and watercoloured the beautiful poinsettia onto white snippets. I coloured the flowers with watercolour pencils and added a layer of clear sparkle once dry. The Merry Christmas letters were the waste part from a Tim Holtz Christmas die and they were watercoloured with Spectrum Noir AquaTints. The background was a large snippet from my experimenting with acrylic paints and Viva Decor crackle paste and I didn’t plan to use that as the background for the poinsettias but as I had all the snippets out I could see that the kraft and red worked with the acrylic background so I grabbed it to use it up whilst I could. The banner was die cut from a larger piece of Kraft which was a reject, it has wonky printing on the back lol! In fact with the exception of the card everything else was snippets before becoming a Christmas card, lol, so it’s a freebie card!

Here is my other snippets project …

Lots of lovely texture and depth

That’s Crafty Challenge Going Round in Circles

I sat down this week intent on using up some of the huge pile of coloured snippets that I have and to create at least one Christmas card and one other project for a second entry into a circles themed challenge. My Prima Finnabair stamp set was the perfect for using on these snippets as there are many different sizes of circles in this set and you can fit them on the smaller snippets. So I used three small snippets in blue, red and yellow to stamp multiple circles from. I used a background I created a long time ago and it has been sitting in the snippets pile for about a year now. So I had a stencilled circle and lots of stamped circles that I fussy cut whilst watching some TV this week. I cut the background down so that it fit a 148mm square card and started playing around with all the fussy cut circles and then something odd happened. I created a Christmas circles wreath with stamps that were never meant for Christmas. It’s not as if I don’t have lots of Christmas stamps either – I think I just have to let it go and realise that sometimes the brain takes off on a tangent with an idea and all I can do is follow it. This time I ended up with another Christmas card for my stash so it’s not all bad lol!

I love that both of these projects were created with only snippets and the fact that one was not planned is just fabulous fun! Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment. I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do soon ttfn Karen x
