Happy Birthday Florals #2 ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your weekend is going. I actually ended up getting out both of my sets of Simon Says Stamp Spring Flowers and More Spring Flowers – I really cannot use these designs enough – they are one of my all time favourite flower stamp sets now lol! Here is my card …

A 5" x 7" card

Although I have to admit this month I have become much more aware of how many flower stamps I own and how often I have a habit of opting for new flower stamps over other stamps. Well now that I have become aware of that I will try to be a bit more aware of it in future but there are certain floral designs that I cannot resist lol! The stencilled layer on the base of the card and the sentiment were created with snippets, lol, even though my week of snippets is over I am trying very hard to shrink the piles of them. I attached a Tim Holtz stencil to a snippet of white card and tapped my Versamark ink pad through it. I removed the stencil then added clear embossing powder and used my heat tool to melt the embossing powder. Once it had cooled I used Luminarte H2O watercolours to colour the card – it’s a gorgeous technique that I don’t use often enough!

The floral panel on my card was my attempt at no line colouring and even though I know I still need to improve I am happy with the end look of this one. I stamped the flowers and leaves in a pale ink then watercoloured them. The next day I went back to my panel and coloured the background. Then when it was dry I decided I wanted to add a bit more shading so I got my colouring pencils out and the flowers do now have more shade but again that’s something that I need to practice and I know I don’t do that every time because I don’t always need to.

And of course as always I just had to add some little inky splatters to finish my main panel! Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment. I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do soon ttfn Karen x
